 Abstract:  Butler Aerial Surveys, Inc., was a Cleveland, Ohio, company which conducted aerial surveys throughout Ohio, during the first half of the twentieth century. The collection consists of client accounts and business files, including financial records, flight reports, correspondence, and a photograph index notebook. The collection pertains largely to the operation of an aerial survey company, whose clients included many Ohio coal and mining companies.

 Abstract:  Joshua Stow was an original shareholder in the Connecticut Land Company and commissary on the Moses Cleaveland surveying party in the Western Reserve. The ollection consists of a summary of expenses for surveys in the Western Reserve for the Connecticut Land Company; letters from Jared Mansfield, Samuel Storrs, Joseph Beebe, Oliver Beebe, Leonard Case, Noah Newton, and from Henry Champion, a director of the Connecticut Land Company, concerning the southwest boundary of the Western Reserve; and papers concerning the survey of the Firelands by Maxfield Ludlow.

3Title:  Virginia Military District in Ohio Papers

 Abstract:  Richard Clough Anderson (1750-1826) was the Surveyor-General of the Virginia Military District, an area located between the Scioto and Little Miami Rivers in Ohio. The District and other land in Kentucky was granted to Virginia by Congress in 1784 to settle its claims to the Northwest Territory and reward its veterans of the American Revolution. The collection consists of seven entry books, ca. 4400 to 4800 surveys, and an index to entries, referring to land in the Virginia Military District lying between the Scioto and Little Miami Rivers in Ohio, which was surveyed under the direction of Anderson, his son-in-law, Allen Latham, and his son, William Marshall Anderson. Includes personal papers of Dr. R.G. Lewis of Madiosonville, Ohio, and miscellaneous papers of Allen Latham.
